About Us

Kia ora tatou e te whānau! My name is Rachel Froggatt.

I am a revenue generation and social impact specialist, CEO and independent director, and social equity advocate.

‘Away We Go ~ Matike Mai' emerged from a long-held aspiration to create a consultancy with a difference. It is built upon 23+ years’ experience in global commercial roles, parallel to a decade in social development.

We work with sport, not-for-profits and NGOs, business and government to help deliver community, performance and social outcomes. We specialise in supporting women and girls, disabled people, Māori and Pacifica, youth, and other groups less privileged across our society. We do this by providing a range of specialist and tactical services.

Our team works immersively and flexibly with clients, often joined by a wider network of experienced and committed specialists. Have a look at some of our work and if we sound like a good fit for you, get in touch today!

Ngā mihi, Rachel

'Away We Go ~ Matike Mai'… so, what does it actually mean?

‘Away We Go’ is a fun way to say ‘let’s go on an adventure’ or ‘this is the solution!’. It’s a common phrase in sport and a nod to my origins: 7x seasons in Formula 1. It is said at the start of a race! “The lights are out, and awaaaay we go!”

‘Matike Mai’ is an interpretation of ‘Away We Go.’ It means ‘rise up’ in the indigenous culture of Aotearoa New Zealand. I am honoured to have been gifted this name by mātauranga (Māori knowledge) expert, Moe Milne (Ngāti Hine, Ngāpuhi). It represents my journey in Te Ao Māori (the Māori world) and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Sport Rightsholders

Whilst in agency, and well beyond, I gathered wide experience in working with sports rightsholders.

Over the past 20+ years I have worked with the International Olympic and Paralympic Committees; Commonwealth Games Federation; World Rugby; the Mercedes, Ferrari, Renault and Jaguar Formula 1 Teams; the Ducati MotoGP and Superbike Teams; World Rally Championship; FC Bayern and FC Barcelona; UEFA Champions League; Surrey Cricket; Saracens; St Andrews Links; and the Allianz Arena.

Media & Charity

Across the years I have also worked on behalf of a number of media and charitable organisations in Melbourne, London and Aotearoa New Zealand.

I managed B2B PR for UK media including: Sky Sports; Racing UK; Magic & KISS Radio; Top Up TV; and Bauer.

I have led PR and fundraising for these charities: Women in Sport Aotearoa (WISPA); Paralympics New Zealand (PNZ); the Australian Red Cross Victoria; and the Leukaemia Foundation of Victoria, Australia.

Gender Equality

I was CEO of Women in Sport Aotearoa (WISPA), Ngā Wāhine Hākinakina o Aotearoa and Secretary General of the International Working Group (IWG) on Women & Sport for nearly 5 years, from September 2018 to December 2022.

This included the staging of the world’s largest conference on gender equity in sport and recreation, the IWG World Conference on Women & Sport.

Disability Inclusivity

I was Commercial & Marketing Director for Paralympics New Zealand (PNZ) and the New Zealand Paralympic Team for almost 4 years, from December 2014 to September 2018.

This included global activation of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Paralympic Games, and extensive work advocating for increased inclusion of disabled people in sport. I also provided back-office PR and media support as a volunteer during Tokyo 2020.

Tikanga Māori

I began my Te Ao Māori journey in late 2018. I have undertaken training through Te Kaa (with Precious Clark / Maurea Consulting), and I am honoured to hold a relationship with Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei.

I helped to set-up the WISPA rōpū - He Wahine Toa Kei Te Kokiri (Strong Women Making a Move) and oversaw the integration of tikanga (protocol) into all mahi (work), especially the IWG World Conference.
